“The Rock Foundation: Creating opportunities for everyone“

Improving the world starts with us!

A few months ago, Ceicia was introduced to Mrs Hazel Delfina Chang, the founder of the Rock Foundation, a non-profit organization that has been supporting youth with special needs in Hong Kong since 2008. Hazel believes in the potential and talents of young people with neurodiversity or special needs. With the right assistance, they can discover their strengths and life purpose to contribute to the community and grow.

The Rock Foundation provides a wide range of activities such as drama, concerts, sports games and musical instrument practices to enhance creativity. Through them ,youngsters can discover their dreams and talent to build a sustainable path for their future.

The foundation aims at guiding them towards opportunities so they can enter their adulthood with confidence. Thus, another purpose of the Rock is to bring awareness to the society to encourage inclusion.

Sally an inspiring example:

A few weeks ago, we met with Sally, a young lady supported by the Rock Foundation. She painted an extraordinary black-and-white landscape with a mosaic of balanced geometric elements. It was impressive how she articulated those shapes to make the painting look magical. When asked why she decided to use black-and-white colours, she explained that this was a way to differentiate her painting from others. Sally is also a library assistant in a school and supports teachers and students. Her path is inspiring.

Why support The Rock Foundation?

This past decade, the Rock has served more than 300 children in search of purpose and alignment with their likes. The 3 services offered by the Rock Foundation are:

• Post-secondary and continuing education for SEN young adults
• After school services
• Preparing young children before they enter the school system

The association also supports:

• Inclusion and integration
• Performances in talent shows and art exhibitions
• Creation of cartoon to raise awareness and promote harmony in Hong Kong Society.
